Deborah A. Fox Discussion on Defying the Desert: Gold Rush Hero William Lewis Manly

History buffs, families, and adventure lovers have a reason to mark their calendars! The Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas will present “Defying the Desert: Gold Rush Hero William Lewis Manly,” to commemorate the 175th anniversary of Manly’s heroic trek through Southern Nevada.
The family-friendly presentation features a talk and artwork by Deborah Fox, author and illustrator of the award-winning graphic novel about pioneer hero William Lewis Manly, “The Man Who Beat Death Valley.” Fox traces Manly’s epic journey, from Wisconsin through Southern Nevada and into Death Valley, and delves into the meaning of heroism.
The presentation will have a give-away of the graphic novel to one lucky winner. Signed copies of “The Man Who Beat Death Valley” will be available for $10, with a portion of proceeds donated to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas.
Following the talk, Fox will present How to Create a Graphic Novel, focusing on the process of creating the exciting book “The Man Who Beat Death Valley.”
